Lil Uzi Beef With Rich the Kid
Rich The Kid and Lil Uzi Vert have engaged in a quickly rising beef to kick off 2018. The pair of talented rappers have taken repeated jabs at each other over social media, but now it may be seeping into the music. RTK, who recently topped Billboard's Emerging Artists Chart, has let the conflict spill over into the booth.
The ATL native previewed a possible Uzi diss track on his Instagram live (Feb. 27), featuring multiple subtle references directed at the "Money Longer" rapper. With Rich The Kid preparing to drop his debut album (March 30),The World Is Yours, could this all be a ploy to increase hype leading into the project, or is there actually some malice behind the disagreement?
As their spat continues,Billboard lays out a timeline of the brief feud between Lil Uzi Vert and Rich The Kid.
Jan. 12, 2018: Rich The Kid Responds to Lil Uzi Vert's Tweet Directed at DJ Drama
Uzi's souring label situation with DJ Drama has been well documented. The Philly native signed to Drama and DJ Don Cannon's Generation Now imprint back in 2015, but is unhappy with how things have turned in the record deal years later.
Lil Uzi Vert once again went public with the in-house disagreement, but also wanted to give his younger audience some knowledge about the music industry by tweeting, "And if y'all do sign … sign 2 a major Don't sign 2 a rapper or a Dj It's Just Easier When The Time Come For That Fake S–t."
A couple hours later, the "New Freezer" rapper teased Uzi about his label situation and how he needed to join the 25-year-old's Rich Forever Music imprint when he had the chance, "That's why you SHOULDA signed [with] Rich forever," the ATLien tweeted.
